Default Baikal shotguns

Has anybody had much expereince with there double barrel shotguns. I was in thre store this weekend and one followed me home. It was in the used gun rack but it had never been fired. It seems to be a well made gun and handles good. I looked at more expensive guns but I don't shoot a shotgun enough to justify spending a $1000 on one.

Remington imports them under the Spartan name. They are russian and seem to have a fairly decent following for a bargain shotgun. They get better reviews than the CZ or Mossbergs (I'm talking about O/U, but side by sides should be simular).

I have a spartan single shot from remington. It isn't bad, don't have too many rounds thru it yet though. I got it for the girlfriend, only cost 100 bucks. The only thing I don't like about mine is the trigger is nasty.

There are several articles on the net about them, when I get time I will post the links. They claim that in russia this is the shotgun to own, it is considered very high end over there and from what I have seen of them it sounds about right, average + quality here = outstanding in USSR. Not a bad buy at all in my opinion.
