Not if you want to use the range compensation. The Hm2 has a different trajectory than the HMR does. The HMR is based on the .22 magnum and the HM2 is based on the .22 long rifle stinger. The HMR is faster and flatter.

Other than that the scope will work.

My personal opinion is to get rid of it and don't worry about the range compensation and just get a better scope. I wouldn't say I hate BSA, but the sweet 17's do not impress me all that much. They are based on some of the cheaper BSA models. They make better scopes, but they cost a bit more.

I don't really think you need the range compensator for a 17 anyway. They shoot pretty darn flat out to the distances they are useful. The most expensive scope I own is on my Savage 17HMR because I feel it is that accurate that it warrants decent glass.

Depending on where you got the scope you might be able to trade the scope for a HMR version. If that fails you might try calling BSA and telling them you got one with the wrong drum, they might send you a new one (drum). BSA get's a bad rap for their optics but they have pretty good customer service from what I understand.

And they have had an issue lately with the sweet 17's getting shipped with the wrong drums on them. I think the issue is with the the 17HM2 scopes coming with the 17 HMR drums by accident though.

Good luck,
Paul

I thought the sweet 17 scopes came with dials for both calibers
