Default New trigger and different ammo for my Ruger 30-06

Was never really happy with the trigger in my All Weather M77 MkII Ruger. I recently had a Timney trigger put in and also switched cartridges from Remington Core Lokt 150 grain to Winchester Ballistic Silvertips. I was simply amazed at the difference in the accuracy of this rifle. Shot 8 shellsand had 1to 1.5 inch groups at 100 yards---and that with me way out of practice. I was getting concerened about this rifle---but now its a keeper. I will be trying it out on the 200 yard range soon. Where I deer hunt---routine shots are 200 to 250 yards---and I committed myself to be better proficientthan I was last year for those long shots. So far so good.

Good deal. Sounds like all that Ruger needed was a little love. Do you attribute it to the trigger or the ammo switch...or both? Good luck.

I think it is a combination of both.

I have a M77 MKI 30-06 and shoot the same load you have chosen. I can put 3 shot groups inside a dime at 100yds without a problem. I also had the trigger done I also shimmed the action and barrel. I love that gun!!
