Default Encore Rifles

Does anybody use the Encore Rifles? How do they shoot and clean. Is it easy to switch out barrels without messing with accuracy? I like how they feel.

I have used a few. I have one right now in 204. I have came to the conclution, if you want really good accuracy, go with individual bolts. Some folks don't mind 2MOA accuracy when moving around different barrels. Then its fine.

For great accuracy, you might get lucky and the reciever hinge fits very tightly and very tightly on the barrel. If your not lucky, you hav to get reamed out, put in an oversized pin, and have the barrel hole reamed also to match perfectly. Secondly if you are after exceptutional accuracy, you most likely will have to have the forarm fitted to each barrel. This can be done with pillars, which I did, or hanger system, which is expensive but probably better.

I will keep the one I got, and now its an exceptional shooter, but I wouldn't do it again. Too many times for an encore. Another thing is cleaning can be difficult. Because you can't really use a bore guide, its easy to hit the sides of the chamber with metal rods. I seen my gunsmith came up with a difty bore cleaner made from a fireformed brass fixed into some barstock. It uses the ejector to hold it.

Maybe it's luck, but both my Contender and my Encore are great shooters and I maintain better than 1MOA accuracy even when switching barrels.
And how could it be easier to clean than being able to easily separate the barrel and the action into two pieces.

My .375 H&H magnum rifle shoots great. It has a very good trigger too. I just ordered a 15" 30-06 pistol barrel and cant wait to try it out. Im getting a 45-70 pistol barrel next.

300 Win Mag and 209 X 50 Mag muzzle loader for my Encore.
(that 300 Win Mag sure makes a big kick and a BIG bang)
I'm still thinking on the 45-70 for my Contender. Tried my fahter's and, man, will that wake you up!

got one, like it, 3 rifle barrels and a 209X50 barrel, everytime i change barrels i have to re-zero for POI, all 4 barrel/scope combos hold decent groups, but i'm gonna have to move'em. for me its not a instant barrel changer/shooter, one other thing, mine had about a 9# trigger[:@], sent it to mike bellms and it is crisp and clean now@3.5# (hunting gun with gloves), also to improve my poi problem bellms suggested indexing my hinge pin, so now i have it marked and try to return it to the same place on every barrel exchange, which did help some

Another feature most Encore buyers are not even aware of is the availabilty of exceptional quality smokeless muzzleloader barrels from companies such as SMI inc...just one more possiblity to think about.

The Encore is addicting,I have 2 frames(one for rifle and one for pistol barrels),and a "few" barrels! The accuracy is there...
