Default .17 HMR BULLETS

Anyone know what .17 HMR bullets arguibly shoot the best?

All depends on the gun, you just have to try them out. Mine likes the Hornady V-max's better than the CCI's. Others have reported the opposite.

I heard that they are all made very well with high tolerances. Much better than 22 mag. So far I've only shot CCI's but at 50 yards the bullet holes overlap each other. I think any brand would shoot well.

They are also all made by CCI, just to different specs for different companies. But all the 17 ammo pretty much comes from the CCI plant. There might be a few new ones that don't. I think winchester has some now and I'm not sure where they are made. If it comes in the plastic box it is made by CCI.

I would have to agree that you have to try different bullets, cause some barrels like certain bullets. However I have a heavy barell Marlin that loves the hornady 17HMR v-max bullets. can group in a nickel at 100 yrds. the CCI's can't touch it.

My son has the Savage .17. It seems to do best with the Hornady bullets.
