Default 30-06 for my husband...HELP

My husbandwants a 30-06 with a 24" barrel, and I don't want to break the bank ...maybe something between $400-600...Any suggestions? I know very little about guns, but I'm trying to surprise him!! Thanks

Could just get him a remington CDL 30-06 or BDL. Do you know if he would like wood and blue or synthetic/stainless? All these are decent in your price range.

Option 1 if he wants a classic wood/blued gun:

Option 2 if he like stainless/synthetic

Option 3 if like laminated stock

Option 4 if he likes savage and wood/blue finish

Option 5 if he likes a euro gun thats affordable and some say accurate

Option 6, one of my favorites but only have it in 22"

Good advice from Bigcountry. For reasonably priced accuracy, Savage is a keeper. They also have a Stevens that isn't bad for a "knock-around" type of rifle. Personally, I love Tikkas. They are made in Finland by Sako and imported by Beretta. Great guns!!! There are several online vendors you can check out. You can order direct but it has to be shipped to / accepted by a FFL holder (like some pawn shops, gun shops, or even individuals). Good luck in your search and let us know what you select. I'm sure your husband will be overjoyed.

If your husband wants a 30-06 with a 24" barrel he is limited to a Remington 700 CDL, BDL,SPS other models they make. To my Knowledge Tikka,Savage don't make it in 24. WInchester used to make it in that length but they are no longer in business.

Thanks everybody! The Remington 700 SPS (He's partial to synthetic), looks like it might be a good choice. Also, does anyone know what a "bull barrel" is? I've heard him use that term before, but I have no idea what this means...Thanks again!

Well, bull barrel changes things a bit. Finding a bull barrel in 06 is going to be tough. It just has a thicker barrel for better accuracy. Kinda like below but not offered in bull.

So they don't make a 30-06 with a bull barrel? It is quite possible that he never mentioned the bull barrel and the 06 in the same sentence and I'm just delusional.

it is possible to find a 30-06 with a bull barrel but they are hard to find and when you do find one your gonna be looking at a price much higher than 400-600 dollars. go with these guys and get one of the remington 700's. they shoot great and they pretty much are the only 30-06's with a 24" barrel.

They used to make sendero's in bull, but they change calibers every year. Or used too. They don't now.

Stick with a good ole 700 and you can't gowrong for your price range and requirements of 24" barrel.
