Default Scope for .17 HMR

I'm going to purchase a .17 HMR in the near future and I'd like to match it up with a good scope. I'm looking in the price range b/t $150 - $250.

Any suggestions on a good scope in that price range?

I've been looking around and I noticed there are specific scopes for .17, but how are these any different from a standard rim-fire scope or any other type scope for that matter?

I had a Bushnell Trophy 6-18 x 40 on my Savage. The scope did the trick, to bad the rifle didn"™t....

I was actually looking at the Savage .17 HMR at the gun shop the other day and considered buying it. What's wrong with it?

I enjoyed shooting it but wasn"™t getting good groups. Probably with the new accutrigger would be better. I also found it was not balances well with the bull barrel and the synthetic stock for a small rifle. The rifle was heavy towards the front. This is just my personal opinion...

Bushnell legend puts out a descent scope in that range.

I was just looking at the Redhead Epic 3 X 9 X 40(silver). Any idea who makes these scopes?

Redhead(bass pro)and Cabelas hire their stuff out and they won't tell who makes it. Example. Cabelas sells a carbon stalker arrow that looks just like a Beman arrow and I am sure they are made by Beman. Employees said they would put there money with me but would not confirm as they aren't told either.

Red Head Epic is made by NIKON. It is a great scope for the price, Simmons made their scopes until last year, then the went to NIKON I put one on my Encore 209 %0 and love it and it only cost about $100.00
