Default What rifle to get??

This summer I am going to be getting a rifle of some sort...I will be using this rifle as mainly a coyote gun and a gun to just go out and have fun shooting period...I have been leaning towards getting a H&R Handi-rifle 22-250...But I just handled the new accutrigger from Savage in 22-250 and it was pretty sweet... I am just wondering what calibers you guys are using out there to get coyotes and the best value as to price...

223, 22-250 and 243 are probably the most udes for this purpose. If you are talking 250 yards Max then the 223 would be my choice. Further out the 22-250 and 243 would do a bit better. The Savage accu-trigger would be hard to beat. as would the Stevens rifle.

An all out plinker and coyote gun you can't go wrong with a .223.It accurate, and makes a pretty good varmit gun out to 300 yds(don't lose much to the 22-250 that far).Plus the price of ammo is WAYYYYYYYYY!!! cheaper for surplus rounds.

I shoot a Rossi varmiter witha 6-18 Sightron scope,Winchester value pack 55 gr Hollow points.I can put 10 rounds in a playing card at 200 yds.It has killed every coyote I have ever shot with it.

My favorite rifle is my Browning .223. It kills them just as dead as anything else, and if you don't handload, Black Hills makes some great ammo for it.

I have a 22-250...but it was inhereted and, while it does its job wonderfully, I would not suggest that caliber as a plinking or all-around-fun gun. Cost of ammo and limited use are reasons why. .223 is much much cheaper (a little more than half as expensive) and the .243 can take care of deer sized animal should you ever want to. I view the 22-250 as a wonderful round that fills its niche wonderfully. Its niche is small though.

I like my .220 swift, I know its not as popular but it is a great yote rifle
I have it in a ruger m77mkll. I just love the way it shoots. I also know there are cheaper rounds to shoot but I just got stuck on this round.

my best coyote round is 223 and ive got it in both a savage and remington 700. the savage doesnt have accutrigger but it still shoots really well and i have nothing but high praise for the remington either. the 22-250 is a fine round too but its more expensive and well here we go again you dont gain too much more with it then the 223. ive shot yotes with every thing from 17HMR to 30-06 but my favorite is the 223. small entry hole and pretty little exit hole too really. if you are thinking of possible deer or hog hunting the 243 would be a good all around choice too. but all in all id go with the 223. and really any company will havea decent one out but the savage and remington are probably about the 2 best.
