Default Ported chokes

Do ported chokes really reduce a noticable amount of recoil for turkey loads? Do they patern better than non-ported chokes?

Some people notice a difference in recoil, some don't. Probably really depends on the gun. I didn't notice a difference on my mossberg, but it already had a ported barrel on it. As far as patterning, I doubt the ports make a difference, but different brands and styles of chokes will pattern with different with different loads.

Velocity, shot size and choke length all play a part in it ( considering same size constriction).

I have one, it did nothing on felt recoil, but pattern was significantly better. I've heard that the ports redirects the gasses so that they don't disturd the wad once it exits the barrel thus producing better patterns. Whether it is true or not I cant tell you, I just know that mine shoots very well.
