Default Has anyone purchased gun in Canada ?

Have a old hunting & fishing buddy in USA and he would like gun I have.
from what I can find out, you have to havea importers Lic ? anyone done this
O those good old days, when we could just bring what we wanted either way. and the free trade was to make it better, the dam politicians got us again.

If the gun is in Canada it is registered unless it's illegal. To dispose of it you will have to advise the registrar and they will likely tell you that the purchaser must have a valid PAL. My guess, and I'm only guessing is that the States might not let it in.

The US has some wierd laws too, an FN-mauser wasn't allowd in and neither are any Garands. My Dad moved from Montreal to AZ, tried to take all his firearms but some weren't allowed, now there mine. An easy rule of thumb, if was made in the US they won't allow it back..... 'US citizens shouldn't have to pay for something thier tax dollars have already paid" was the general gist. You also have to go through a go through alot of paper, getlawyer or bring it to someone that already has an import/export lic (not all gun stores will have) and get them to do it, and they have to ship to an FFL holder in the US. Sorry to tell you but unless your s'ern friend wants to pay the price he may not be interested, if I remember correctly it was quite expensive. Call the firearms center
