Default Can I use 44 specials?

I have a Winchester Model 94 and a Ruger Super Blackhawk both chambered in 44 Mag. Can I use 44 specials in these two guns?

You can use the specials in your Ruger. I'm not sure about the rifle.

Yes they will work in the rifle too. I have a Marlin and a Winchester. Both say in the info that you can shoot 44 Specials. I usuall just load some 44 Mags down a little instead.

If you shoot alot of 44specials they can affect the accuracy with 44 mags. The shorter length can cause the longer mags to shoot less accurately, also some guns don't shoot the specials as accurately. Lighter loaded mags are the better way to go.

Absolutely.....and if you're a reloader just short change the magnum case a bit and you have the 44 special in the magnum case. If not the 44 special is a fine way to practice with out excessive noise and recoil.

I disagree that they will effect accuracy of the 44 mags in the same rifle.

I agree with Vapo. Shooting specials should not effect accuracy of the mag loads. However if you shoot a lot of specials, it may foul the area at the front of the chamber and make chambering magnums a little difficult. Keeping the chamber clean will cure that problem. Specials may or may not be as accurate but only in the same way as two different Mag loads may differ in accuracy. If I do want lighter loads I usually just load down the magnum cases a bit but I have done both as I have a lot of 44 special brass as well. I love cast bullet special loads for small game and even self defense.
