Default Remington 600

Hi, Ijust got a Remington 600 in 308, what a sweet quick handling gun. Does anyone know how to remove the bolt from this gun? I see no release like on other bolt guns I am use too.

Thanks.

I have a model 600 in .308 and took two deer with it this year. Mounted a 3x9 40mm Burris fulfield on it and it does handle sweet. Removing the bolt is almost a three handed process. Open the bolt and pull towards rear not all the way though. Look into the receiver from the back of the bolt, you will see a small shiny piece of metal on the bottom left side of the receiver. Press this down with a dental pick or something similar and the bolt will slide out. When putting the bolt back in make sure the safety is in the forward position and the bolt will almost fall in. If the safety is in the rear position you will think this damn bolt doesn't fit in this gun, even though you took it out a few moments before. Also Remington has a recall notice that is still good. It concerns accidental firing because you have to unload with the safety off. If you send it in they will clean and install the necessary parts, but the trigger feel may not be the same. Good luck with your new deer slayer. www.remington.com

My father, who hunts minimally anymore, has hunted with one in 308 for 30 years. It's killed a semi-load of deer.

I love hauling the gun around. It's like carrying a pistol.

Only problem with it is that it kicks a ton for a .308....No problem for me...but I wanted my wife to shoot it, and I'm not sure that's a good idea.

I had a 600 in 308 for many years. My wife used it a lot and she doesn't like recoil. I never thought that the 6500 kicked that much. They are a fine rifle.

Awesome stuff, thanks. Glad to hear others like this gun, is it hard to find scope mounts? I don't see any listed on Midway for it, although I probably will just play around with the open sights for a while.

You can use scope bases for a remington 700 for your 600.
