Default Marlin 1895 trigger problem

I just got a 1895 in a 45-70 from a friend of mine. The gun is in immaculate condition with the exception of the trigger. When the hammer is back, and when it is fully down, the trigger has about a 1/2 inch play in it. Does anyone know what this might be before dump a bunch of $$ into it?

Thanks, Ryan

Nothing wrong with it at all.

That's the way that the Marlin triggers are.

Yea, mine sucks too. Get ya a wild west trigger. I hear they are great. Might have some gunsmithing involved. Some said no problem.

Just lay it in. Once you get the trick, you got it for life.

I put a wild west trigger in mine and no more trigger flop, about 3 lbs and better than most boltactions. And no gunsmithing involved. Just pay attendition to the instructions. By the way I got mine from www.midwayusa.com
