Default Benelli R-1 Reviews?

Anybody here own or have shot the benelli r-1 comfortec rifle? It comes in 30-06 and .300 WinMag. They claim that they kick like a .243 and a .270, respectively. Is this really true??

What are your overall feelings on this rifle?

Although not a comfort tech, I just traded away my 30.06 R-1 away last weekend for a Tikka T3. TheR-1 is very well made and I loved the way it carried and came up. But I hated the trigger (too much creep and heavy) and the safety was in the front of the guard and with gloves on, I struggled with it. Less important, the owner"™s manual is horrible and you"™re on your own for some maintenance procedures. My father-in-law loved my gun and bought a comfort tech 300 wsm a few weeks ago. He loves it, but used a gun cradle and a triggerplunger to site it in.

I guess I am not much of a semi guy,so maybe not the bestjudge, but I felt it was a lot of money not to be totally happy with it.

I shot one several weeks ago. It was chambered in 30-06, and recoil was very mild. My overall impression was that it was waay overengineered. I shot it at 100 and 200 yards, and accuracy was acceptable. Didn't measure any groups though. But my impression is this, if I'm going to drop that kind of money on a semi auto rifle, it will beon a Browning BAR. And in all reality, I can buy a BAR cheaper than the R1.JMHO

Thanks guys,

That is what i was lookign for: was it worth ut to drop so much on a rifle, when cheaper ones provide the same, or better feel and performance, and dependabillity.

Thanks for the input
