RE: 300 WSM
Personally I wouldn't restrict any magnum to a compact rifle like the model 7. They are better suited, IMO, to rounds like the 308, 7mm-08, etc. The 300 WSM isn't even available int the model 7.
It's also not available int he CDL.
It is available in the XCR, SPS, and LSS.
Unless you will be reguarly hunting in conditions like the North West coastal areas, Alaska, etc... the XCR really isn't of much benefit.
I like the LSS but I hate the shiny finish that Remington uses on this rifle.
I'd probably go with the SPS if I were to go with Remington and the WSM.
Having said that there is a huge number of other rifles that are chambered for the 300 WSM that I would choose over the three Remingtons.
I would take a serious look at a Howa with their JRS classic and JRS thumbhole or a Weatherby vanguard (same basic rifle as Howa).
