Default Just fixed my Remmy 597

I have owned a Remmy 597 for 4 years now. In all of that tme, I have never ran a full mag through it without it jamming. I knew Remington had come out with a third generation mag, (mines a second gen) but I was leary of dropping more money into this heap. I was reading over on rimfire central and read an article on how to fix the second gen mags. You have to disassemble the mag, and sand the follower down a little. I took mine apart, and sanded it down as instructed. Put it all back together, and took it out for a test. I ran 50 rounds through it pretty quickly, without so much as a hiccup!! This is the first time EVER this gun has functioned properly. I'm gonna take it out this weekend and run some more ammo through it because this is like getting a brand new gun.LOL Just thought I would pass this along, and if anybody wants directions to the article just let me know.

I never had any problems with my 597. My dad bought me one when they first came out and it has never give me any problems. Maybe I got lucky. Does anyone remember the Viper I try to forget about that thing I wont even put it in the safe. I have it in the corner of the garage what a pile

Yes indeed bigiron, the Viper doesn't even deserve to be used as a hammer. I'd rather throw rocks.

I have a 597 in a .22wmr I have never had a jam yet. but that may not be a problem with the mag.
