Default new england h&r opinion

I am looking to buy my son his first shotgun. the NE H&R model pardner pump seems to be a decent gun for the price. Does anyone have any opinions about this gun. Please don't hold back give me the pro's and con's. thanks.

if he/you dont mind a single shot , the 20g slug gun is a tack driver and comes in a youth model. If just for deer would be perfect. I have it in 12ga and is the most accurate shotgunI own. Well made in the USA !

From the reputation of H&R's singleshot, if the pump is anything like them, then I would assume it to be a good choice. I have seen the H&R pumps at gander mountain, but never really took a close look at them, I never really took notice to their price as far as comparing them with the mossbergs or the 870 express. Although not as well made as the wingmasters,I have seen some 870's for $159 at gander mt. Maybe someone in this forum has actually used the H&R pump and could tell you about the performance of it.....

If you look around, the mossberg 500 and 870 expess can be found for pretty reasonable prices...I would compare those prices to the H&R and talk to as many people as you can....then make your decission from there....

Good luck with the gun,,,,,I hope it works well for your son and he has many happy seasons with it.

I also would like to know the same thing.

I bought a NEF single shot 10ga. for this year's turkey season. I really like it. I wish I would have bought one sooner.

The padner is made in China, built like a tank but can't bring myself to buy a shotgun made by the peoples army. Look at a mossberg or remington 870 both good guns. I have the h&r ultra slug gun and its a tack driver. I also just bought the new excell auto 5 also a H&R, nice gun for 300 it's made in turkey by salsarmiz I have only fired about 300 rounds through it but it feels good and patterns really well
