Default Scope ring height for 700 50mm scope

Hey everyone just mounted my 50mm Obj.scope on a 700 sps in 22-250 and used super high mounts. The front of the scope sets off the gun about .5-.6" and the bolt is about .5" off the scope. What is the minimum height rings I could get by with. Maybe just high or medium?

Thanks,
Kyle

I think high rings will do the trick, but go to www.leupold.com to double check if using leupold rings and bases. Good luck.

the leupold high rings will work well. i have a 44mm scope on my 700 adl with those high mounts and theres still 1/4' of space in between the barrel and scope and the difference between 44mm and 50mm is no where near 1/4". the 50mm should be around 1/8 inch off the barrel and i like my scopes to be as close as possible usually with out interfearence of course.

Depends on what scope you have.

If it's a Leupold then you will need high rings caused there objectives are a little on the large size. If you have a Zeiss then mediums are perfect. A Bushnell will use mediums, etc... etc...

If you got an adjustable objective then you will need higs for all of them.

Thanks for the help. Atm I have a p.o.s. BSA, and I am fixing to get a swift 4-12x50, and compared to my leupold 50mm scope the objective is close to the same size on the swift I would say. I probably need to take the super highs back and go with the high because I am like you hobie and like my scope close as possible.

I have a similar rifle / scope set up as yours. The talley steel bases with medium rings have a combined height of .700 inches from the bottom of the base to the bottom of the ring where it contacts the scope.

I'vebought several sets of talley ringsso far and I now I am spoiled. I will never buy another set of Leupold rings.
