Default Browning guns

I own several Browning guns. During hurricane Katrina I had my guns in a Liberty gun safe and we got 6 feet of saltwater. I was able to get to my guns within 24 hours. l guess we had water for about 6 hours. One of my 3 a-bolts didn't survive as well as my other 2. Mechanically it faired well. But the finish on the wood is wanting to crack up. I am open to some suggetions to weather I should try to refinish the wood my self or send to someone or even should I purchase another piece of wood.

It shouldn't be all that difficult to refinish yourself if that is the sort of thing your interested in. Strip the old finish off with a chemical stripper and do some fine sanding with fine paper and steel wool, finish with a rubbed in oil finish like lboiled ineseed or tung oil. I have done a few stocks with boiled linseed oil, and they turned out really good.

I would refinish. Stocks are very expensive. And refinishing is something I would like to try my hand at. I just don't have any stocks right now bad enough to warranty that.

stocks are expensive , shouldn't that be covered by insurance ??
storm damage i think would cover that , unless they are considering it flood damage which is almost uninsurable. i'm not trying to mind your business my friend , i'm just thinking it might be better for you to go that route please don't take it the wrong way
