remington sportser ????
i've heard of a rifle supposedly made by remington , it was a lever action rifle and one of the chamberings was .300 savage. my grandfather had said he had had one , and i was talking to a friend of the family and he had said he also had had one . my grandfathers was sold by his brother while he was in WWII , and our family friend had his burn up in a house fire.
has anybody here heard of it , and / or could possibly post some pics of one ?????
thanks

I just went through the "Blue Book of Gun Values", and can find no mention of a lever action made by Remington. I wonder if it was a rolling block, but I don't believe they were ever made in 300 Savage. Beginning to wonder if someone didn't get confused with the Model 99 Savage?
Maybe someone else on here can shed some light??-----

i'm afraid i can't ask either of them , our family friend passed away back in 95' , and unfortunately my grandfather passed on to be with the lord on june 6 , of last year 05' . but from what i can remember , he described the shell , and the rifle as if it was in fact a winchester m71 ( but with a clip ), in .348 win. which my grandfather did have , however our family friend desribed his as a savage 99 . both however said that they were .300 savage caliber.
sorry but , there isn't that much more i can tell , just that they both said it was a lever action remington sportster.
( on a side note , i've heard a lot of older guys call a rifle by the shell makers name , like for example ( a savage , .300 savage )

Was the Winchester 88 ever offered in the 300Sav? (I want to say no, but honestly can't remember now!)
I can't find any evidence to say otherwise, but what about the remote possibility of Remington having built a few guns of such on a Browning patent like they did with the model 11? Browning had a falling out with Winchester in the early 1900s and Remington quickly came too John Moses with the hat in their hands.
Just a thought!
