I heard the same thing. I have not seen one yet however. They are still selling a fair amount of their 300 SM in that rifle but the 300 WSM would probably sell better. Its a good carry gun for big Game but the recoil it not pleasant at all. I shot one belonging to a friend of mine. Its not for me.

I have one in 260rem and I would like one in 300 SAUM but I would love it if they brought out one in the ?/284 wildcat range say a 6.5/284norma for example or the new 338 federal would be great.

I have not heard anything about the WSM's and the model 7 and Remington is not listing it anywhere in their 2006 catalog. The only short mags they are listing for the model 7 are the SAUM's

However, this past year they began chambering the model 700 for the .270 and 300 wsm's. They're available in the SPS, LPS, and XCR.

I have two model 7's .243 and .308,I also had the .243 in a 700 the recoil seemed the same and the .308 is not too bad.these are for hunting not for 50 shoots at the range.

I believe that. I have a Browning A-Bolt lightweight stalker in 308 and its about all the recoil I would want in a light rifle. It gets your attention with stiff loads.

ej,
the 7 is just a shorter, more compact version of the 700. It is only chmabered for short action cartridges. I believe the .308 is the biggest of the standards. I've got one in 6mm and absolutely love it. I haven't heard as good of things about the SAUMs and the regular win short mags or would have got one in 300 rem saum.

The Model 7 is simply a shortened (in the rearend) and slimmed down shortaction 700 with shorter and slimmer barrels and stocks as well. The only thing I have heard about with the mod 7 for 06 is that they will be built in a CDL style offering. Basically they will replicate the original "Mountain Rifle" model 7 that was offered in the late 80s-early 90s. I had one of them in 7-08 back then and wish I had NEVER gotten rid of it! (As a result I have NEVER gotten rid of a gun since and am not about to begin!)

If/when Remington wakes up and gives up on their dead on arrival, SAUMs and offers the WSMs in a CDL Mod 7 I am THERE!!!
