You can try to go with the NEF or Winchester model 70 featherweight.

An Encore wouldnt be bad from a treestand since youll prob have plenty of time to place your shot and wont need a quick follow up shot. I just bought a 243wssm A-bolt and really like it. The Rem model 7s are pretty good. Ruger has that little MK II Compact with a 16.5" barrel which is really light and wouldnt be bad for a treestand assuming you're hunting woods, not long open fields.

I'd second the recommendation for a Ruger compact, Remington model 7, or a Browning microhunter. I use a Model 7 7mm-08 from a treestand, and the 18.5" barrel is handy.

I've got a Rem Model Seven in .308, so I'm prejudiced towards those. I'd get a Model Seven.

While we're on this . . . I want to get another lightweight rifle, and I'm down to a Rem Model Seven, in either .243 or .260 Remington. I've talked to two guys who use .243s in the past week, and I know of a guy at the lab I work in who has nailed three deer in the last two years with a .260 Remington Model Seven, so I've managed to hear good things about both. Any opinions?
