Ruger 10/22 - tough as nails. Especially if you ever want to do any customizing or home-gunsmithing. Check them out here.........

But if you would be happy with stock, Marlin makes real fine .22s, too. Check them out here..........

Did you mean 22 Long Rifle or the .22 centerfires?

Marlins, Brownings and the 10/22 are going to be hard to beat in rimfires. I personally have been eyeing browning Buckmark rifle...but you're paying for quality and the name when you go Browning.

The 795 is just a model 60 with a detach. mag instead of a tube feed system. The mod 60 is a great lttle rifle. The one I had was very accurate, cosidering the price of the gun, and the ammo I shot out of it. My only compaint was the trigger. But, for going after tree rats and the like, it is great. Good luck

I don't own a .22 anymore. When I got my .17 I sold them. I have had quite a few over the years though. I am thinking about getting a 10/22 to modify for my girlfriend though.

Here is a pic of my .17HMR.

Savage heavy barrel with wood stock (duh!) topped with an Alaskan Guide 6.5-20X44 A/O from cabela's with cabela's quick release rings. Yes the scope cost twice what the gun did. First time I have every done that, but I thought this round was deserving of it.

Paul, did you do anything with the trigger? I put in the kit from Rifle Basix, and all I can say is WOW! It is adjustable from 10oz-24oz, and really turned mine into a shooter.Much better than the stock 5 pound number. Bought mine brand new off of E-Bay for $60 and it took probably half an hour to install myself. Good shoting

Yes, I did the ball point pen spring trick and shimmed the trigger as well. It is much better than it was stock now.

I want to get a rifle basics, or accutrigger for it along with an after market stock. I was thinking of this one from Richards Micro Fit.

Except I just want it in plain jane walnut or something. Well I would like the one above, but don't want to fork over the cash for it.

I've had two model 60's in my life and they were very good rifles, served me very well. One was my first .22 when I was 15. My two favorite .22's were my model 60 and my Henry lever action. I want a buckmark carbine as well, I had a buckmark pistol and loved it.

Like I said though, I think my next .22 will be a beat up 10/22 so I can tinker with it. All I really want is a decent action, the rest will most likely get replaced.
