you can buy a used rifle cheaper, or a new rifle for about the same price, thats what I do, buy a new rifle and sell the takeoff from it.

A receiver is going to cost you more than an entire ADL or SPS. Brownells sells them for $400 retail but are currently sold out. Then you still gotta buy the other parts that go with it... floor plate, mag box, mag spring and follower which is another $125.

You'd be much better off getting a discontinued ADL for $299 or a new SPS and selling the parts you don't want.

I don't understand it one bit but that's the way it is.

They had them on Brownells at one time. But wanted over 300 for it. You can find a good doner rifle cheaper. Your going to have to reblue anyway. And you might want to have a satin finish or whatever.

Check the pawn shops - particularly those near a military base. Should be able to find a used gun for about $250.

Look for a used rifle as a donor or go to Wal-Mart and spend $299 on a discontinued 700 ADL synthetic. I see they have alot of them is stock and they carry the 308 & 243. Both use the same short action and will work.
