I just got my new Ruger back from the smith. I had a Timney trigger put in it. It is absolutely the best trigger that I have laid my finger on. Perfect brake, no creep and a nice 3lbs. The problem is I checked the trigger on my best, old faithful rifle, and that trigger feels like crap. So now I have to upgrade the triggers on all my rifles!
Is there anything I can do about this? Is this the normal progression?

Statjunk, cock it and make sure the safety is off, now holding it in a verticle position by the fore end, smack the butt on a solid floor and see if it releases the firing pin!

On a friend's advice I had mine and my sons' triggers all lightenedlast year, including Timneys on our two Ruger .270's. What a difference in all of our shooting!
Recentlymy sonsinherited a real nice old Winchester (earlier post). A beautiful rifle with a 7 plus pound trigger that feels like . . like . . crap!
Up til now you liked your rifles - now you love them. There is no return!

sorry there is no known cure[:@], it is amazing the guns i have handled that people spend 500-1000$ on and then a 400 up scope and are pulling a 5-9# trigger, my worst 2 recent, an encore frame i sent to mike bellm, and my newest rem 700, the encore frame had to be close to 9 #, and the 700 trigger had to be 6-7#, and felt like running over a brick with a lawn-mower[:@], i know it is a liability issue, but man some triggers are really unbelievable...i alway put hunting rifles around 3#, 3.5 if i will be shooting with gloves on, nothing like running a gloved finger into a tight trigger gaurd[:@], like with a muzzle loader where your sure of no second shot, not that it has everhappened to me

nope......nothing you can do. I got the trigger done on one of my Rugers, next thing I know I had 5 guns lined up in sucession at his shop for either new triggers (Rugers) or trigger work (Savages) its fate, it will happen.
Now would be a bad time to buy a BLR or other rifle that is very difficlut to get a good trigger on.
I love my 2 BLR's but cannot shoot them after one of my varmint rifles

Hairtrigger, I am not sure about theBLR but I replaced the trigger spring on my A-BOLT,it was very simple and took more time to remove the action from the stock than to change the spring. I beleive it was a Timney spring.
Bill
I have don my A-Bolt 22 trigger also.
With the BLR the trigger travels with the lever, there is way more to the BLR trigger than the A-Bolt unfortunately
