What rifle is it you're looking at? 30-06 is usually more powerful, has more ammunition choices, and cheap surplus ammo.

Depends if you shooting deer or what? 270 is better with the lighter bullets so it flatter shooting. Unless you need a big 180 grn bullet for something other then deer then Id go with the 270.

If it's strictly for deer, .270! If you are a confident shooter, it will work on Elk also with the right ammo.

If it was me, I'd go with the 06 but it's one of those 2 nickels verses a dime for deer size critters

They say a .270 will pass on Moose but I sure can't believe it. .270 is perfect for deer, but Moose... I don't know about...

This subject has been argued around campfires since Truman was president. For shooting large game inside of 300 yards, go with the 30-06. For longer shots, game under 400 pounds live weight, or if you are a little recoil sensitive - pick the .270.

Or just flip a coin

the .270 is one of the best and most popular deer calibers of all time. The 30'06 and the .270 have the same casing (i think)so I don't see where the 06' would be more powerful. You can just get a heaiver bullet for it.

I don't know about moose. As much as I love the .270win and I do love it. I think I would opt for something bigger considering a moose can cash in at 7ft at the shoulder.

If i had to pick b/t the two you asked about for both deer and moose, I would go with the 06'. But if you didn't type out the word MOOSE. I would say .270 all the way.

I don't even know if I would pick a 06' for moose. I would probably go with a 300mag or something simular. I've never shot a moose, but i do know they are bigger than horses.
