Default Redhawk 7 1/2 -9 1/2

As many of you know, Ive been trying to get a Ruger Super Redhawk 44 magin MD. Which is like trying to pull teeth. Well, I finally found a dealer in PA that is going to ship one to my dealer and the gun is at a great price new in box for $599 shipped (MD compliant). Hes my dilemma. I was hoping to get the 7 1/2" barrel but the gun he has is a 9 1/2" I was counting on that the 7 1/2" would be easiler to handle etc. My question is, will the 9 1/2 be that cumbersome? Should I be lucky I found a MD compliant gun and not worry about the longer barrel? Will I be better off with the longer barrel? I plan on using it strictly to deer/hog hunt with.

With MD laws if its manufactured after a certain date (somewhere around 2003?) it must have a spent casing to send with to the State police, and have some kind of trigger locking mechanism. Because this gun is new in box but manufactured in 2000 its not subject to these laws. I feel lucky to have found one NIB made in 2000.

Nah! Go for it Mossy! I like the extra weight of the 9 1/2. You are not going tofast draw on a hog, are you?

If you don't like the barrel length after trying it out, you can always have it cut. Good luck.

The Redhawk is such a big gun that a couple more inches of barrel would not bother me one bit.
