Default Help converting DM to BDL

I have a 700 SA DM (Detachable Magazine) I tried to put a standard BDL floorplate on it but when I did the follower pushed up too high & hit the bolt. Am I missing something here. I thought they were inter-changable.

You have to have a magazine box. It is the thin metal box that fits between the floor plate and the receiver. This has the feed lips on it and is what holds back the next round and the follower.

Although it may fit the stocks for the DM's are cut out for the mag release buttons and would look pretty funny with a regular hinged floor plate.

BigBulls,

I was actually using a BDL type stock, not the DM stock. You are right that would look funny.

I do have the magazine box, the follower pops right through the top. The lips on the magazine box do not catch the follower. I did notice that the action on my .243 BDL has some "lips" on the receiver under the bolt and my 7mm08 DM does not. If these "lips" are built onto the action as it appears, I'm SOL

All 700 actionsthat came equipped with the detachable magazine have no feed rails. The detachable magazine lips act as the feed rails.Unless you weld feed rails onto the action, this conversion won't work.
