Default Got New Remington Today

Been wanting this gun for a long time, Santa finally gave me the money to get it. Its a 870 Super Mag Camo with rifled barrel. The only question I have is why www.remington.com doesnt have this gun on their site? I got the gun from a gun dealer, so it isnt one of those walmart specials. Anyway, cannot wait to get it and see what a 3.5" shell feels like.

Why don"™t you contact Remington and ask them your question? They have excellent customer service by e-mail.

I have an 870 SPS-T in 3 1/2" also. I think you are in for a surprise when you light up your first 3 1/2" load.

Yeah, you are in for a surprise alright.

I don't mind recoil at all but those 3.5" shells don't exactly feel good. Outside of taking one or two shots at a turkey I would have absolutely no need what so ever to get kicked that hard to kill birds.

Steel shot isn't all that bad cause it is much lighter but I will tell you that a good turkey load or buck shot will pound you real good. It honestly hurts to shoot more than once or twice.

I remember when I shot my first 3 1/2" this summer, I was sitting down and wasn't expecting THAT much recoil. When I shot my back went all the way to the ground...I sit a little more stiff now.

I was patterning mine last year for Turkey season going thru a lot of different ammo in 3 1/2. When I got home my wife asked me if I had been in a fight.

My cheek was all swollen up and red from resting my cheek on the stock to aim when shooting.

I'm glad I don't have to pattern that gun anymore for Turkey's.

Enjoy your new gun.

Have a friend with a shoulder that has been dislocated in the past and suffered from some rotator damage... we were patterning shotguns for turkey and he was through 2 rounds of 3 1/2 inch and lit off a 3rd turkey load and it dislocated his shoulder and he was out cold and on the ground before i could get to him... btw, he's 6' 3" and pushing 2 bills.. not big but not a small fellow either. i personally have no use for anything that abusive and i've lit off my fair share... i'll stick to my 3"
