Default 45 Auto same as 45ACP?

I went to walmart last night to pick up a couple boxes of ammo for my 1911 im picking up friday and all they carried was 45 Auto I figured it was the same as 45acp am I correct? And do most manufacturers actually list 45 ammo as 45 acp or does the name vary frommanufacturer to manufacturer? Thanks, sean

You are correct. Most companies call it 45ACP.

I'm not completely sure, but I think ACP stands for Auto Centerfire Pistol. I could be wrong though, I didn't look it up. I might now though.

Rusty, the .45 ACP, Automatic Colt Pistol, ahs been around for almost 100 years now! So, it is commonly called .45 Auto!
There is a new .45 GAP, which is maybe two years old. It the the .45 Glock Automatic Pistol! The .45 ACP, and .45 GAP, ARE NOT interchangeable! There is also the .45 Colt, or .45 LC (Long Colt!) It is mainly used in revolvers, and IS NOT interchangeable with either of the other .45's!
Again, the .45 ACP, is commonly refered to as the .45 Auto! Have fun with the new gun!
