Default Blueing a gun on my own?

Greetings:

I have bought a old Winchester lever gun that has some bad spots on it. I wish to reblue the gun. Is this hard for a novice like me? Help anyone.

Default RE: Blueing a gun on my own?

If it's a real old winchester you'll probably ruin it's value. If it's a post 64 it probably wont hurt much. I did a savage bolt action .410 years ago and had good results with Birchwood and Caseys' kit. Do the blue and rust remover outside ....stuff stinks up the outdoors. good luck
