Default Accurate semi auto production pistol?

I am looking for a very accurate off-the-shelf semi-auto pistol.

Who makes the best off the shelf pistol? Kimber, Spring Field Armory, Smith & Wesson, Glock or Sig?

I am thinking about the Kimber Tactical line of pistols?

I shoot better with 1911's simply because the triggers are single action and have the feel of a rifle trigger. There is nothing wrong with any of the guns you mentioned, but Kimber seems to be the standard all others are held to. Of course, that comes at a price.

I have been pretty pleased with Springfields loaded line of 1911s. Usually very accurate for the money. I had a loaded operator that was one of the most accurate 1911s I have ever had, customs included.

Most accurate off the shelf semi-auto is the Sig P-210, if you can afford one. Not exactly a CWP weapon but very accurate.

I'm a fan of the Sig's, myself. My 226 is more accurate than I can practically shoot it offhand and utterly reliable.

From the box, I have had two very accurate autos. Both were 45's One a Ruger, the other a Sig 220. I had a Glock 22 that was right on their heels. On Average though I think Sig would get my bet.

I will have to give the nod to Sig as well.
