Default Old remington 11 value?

I have a small crush on old guns...and I have another crush on A-5s. I found a remington 11 for $200. No pitting, no gouges...alot of bluing is worn off and the stock will need to be replaced (Loose at the reciever)...I know its impossible to make a good call with so little info...and without seeing the gun in person...but is this at least in the right ballpark for such a gun? The bluing being gone doesn't bother me ( I mean it IS an old gun and any gunsmith can fix that if I want later on) Replacing the stock doesn't bother me either...I'll just keep that in mind as the overall cost of the gun.

Frankly, I think 200.00 is too much. I've owned two mod. 11's. The loose butt stock can be fixed if it's not cracked. Behind the buttplate, there is a bolt that runs through the butt stock. This may just need to be tightened. I sold my last one, ingreat conditionfor $250.00 ten years ago. The actions get loose after much use. Grab the receiver in one hand and the barrel and forearm in the other. Twist. if there is a lot of play between the receiver and the barrel, it has seen a lot of firing. Any new parts will be difficult to come by.
One the other hand, they were wonderfully crafted shotguns. Solid and as good as the Brownings, in my opinion.

BUMP

Wingbone, the more I thought about it the higher it began to seem. (Funny how that happens huh?) Looked around on gunbroker, gunsamerica and auctionarms...seems your 250 mark is right on for an 11 that is well used and in working condition. I'll try your twist test next time I go. I'll go in Tuesday and see if he'll move any from the $195. It'll definately be a project gun...but want to keep gun+stock/forearm (and finishing stock costs) well below 300. As far as new parts go, I know some A5 parts are interchangeable...is this true with the "wearing" parts of the action (the brass friction plate or whatever I read was likely to be worn from heavy use)?

I wouldn't count on the A-5 parts fitting. They were common guns. You should be able to find parts at the larger brokers. Hell, I think I've still got a firing pin floating around here somewhere. You might get a worn friction ring, but even on the gun that was shot loose, the friction ring was in great shape. They are tough guns. It would be hard to break anything on them, other than a cracked forearm. It would take a lot of abuse to wear one of them out in only a couple of lifetimes.

Soilarch. There were several grades made some with no extras and some with engraving. BUT I ahd a field model. It didn't cycle so it was basicly a heavey single shot!!lol The problem is that it is mechanicly different than an auto 5. I was not able to find replacement parts anywhere.
I wouldn't pay more than 150 for one that works.

I've been reading alot about them. There are some slight differences, like the barrels are NOT interchangeable. Even though they look it and will even slide into each other's recieves. Stock and forearms arent that plentyful but can be found. I was under the impression that is WAS mechanicly an A-5...with slight improvements by C.C. Loomis. I've pretty much decided I'm gonna start the guy at $150...move from there (cause I doubt he'll take it...I don't know how long its been oh his shelf) and make the good ole fashion gut-call.
