Default new gun... 300 mag!

Just traded my remington 35 whelen 700 classic for a Ruger M77 mark 2 stainless with synthetic stock (300 win mag).. How did I do? I love it.

If you are happy, then that is all that really matters. I have a Ruger M77 MK II All Weather in 30-06 that I really enjoy. My only complaint would be the trigger but it can be fixed for not too much money.

The Classic should be a pretty valuable rifle in that caliber. They are all worth much more than new price already.

to be honest with you guys, I paid him 50 bucks difference and that was with my leupold 4x compact scope on it.. The gun was not in pristine condition but was in good shape.. I always wanted a magnum in stainless and this was my chance to grab one. We are building a house so money is tight. I may have gotten the short end of the deal money wise but to me it was worth it and this ruger is like brand new.

I also tried a few times to trade this rifle on this forum and nobody wanted it. I didn't think it was a very desierable caliber. It's great for close range but anything past 200 yards it's just about useless.. I've shot about 9 deer with it and it definitely does the trick but it was time to move on.

I have a ruger 300 win mag, all weather stainless with the old style stock and love that rifle. I replaced the trigger with a timney trigger, which I found pretty easy to do.. I put a Leupold VX-II 3-9x scope on it and it is a great all around hunting rifle

I am glad I made the trade now... The Ruger 300 mag shoots like a dream and has half the recoil my 35 whelen had! I was shocked to be honest with you guys.
