Default 357.

Today i picked up an old s&m model 19 357 mag. mainly for self defense if needed (hopefully not) but what would be some good ammo for that purpose?

Default RE: 357.

Congra'ts on the #19. I used to carry one for a duty weapon and still own one. As to defense ammo, the 125-135 grain hollow points is still one of the best man stoppers made. I would try several good brands out to see what the gun liked. The Speer 135 grain Gold Dots, Federal 130 grain Hydra-Shok and theCorbon 125 grain JHP are all good defensive rounds.

For practice and plinking, the Federal classic .38 special 158 grain LRN and the 130 FJM makes for cheap fun shooting.
