Should work very well for that. Just have to be careful shooting too many rounds too quickly. The barrel will get very hot in short order. Good luck

should work fine just dont shoot to rapidly. the barrel will heat up and your accuracy will go down and a 250 is natorious for shooting out there barrels faster then other guns.

Really, I"™ve always read about the 220 Swift being a barrel burner but not the 22-250..

personally i like a50 cal. barret for all varmint hunting... na the 22-250 is an excellent, extremely fast accurate round.

ah, i'm buying a scope now for around $200-$300 and was contemplating that exact scope or the new simmons masterseries scopes for their new technology and good reviews. I was just checking to see if you found a nice bargain that I could get in on at a store somewhere. thanks though!

The 22/250 is an excellent cartridge for prairie dogs, it would be my numbertwo choice. the .223 is the best gun for mine and my brother's favorite style of shooting prairie dogs (walking and sneaking to within 200 yards usingbipods on our guns) because it doesn't get as hot as quickly. Some people, like my dad, prefer to sit at a portable bench, if this is your style the 22/250 will work better because your shots will tend to be a little further out because your mobility is limited. Some people like to shoot 500-1000 yards for prairie dogs, your gun will not work for that unless you get it re-barreled with a fast twist and shoot 80 grain bullets.
Don't worry about whether or not this is a "barrel burner", if you choose to shoot prairie dogs you have chosen to burn barrels, that is the way it is. Myself, my brother, and my dad have all had to re-barrel our .223'safter only a few years!(as well as 22/250 and 220 swift). If you are like most people you will have a vacation of3 or 4 days per year to shoot dogs. Have fun when you're out there, you don't need to be stressing about your barrel-life. They make new barrels everyday, you can't shoot prairie dogs everday!
