Default 300 rem ultra mag

I bought a 300 rum in a model 700 great gun. I was wondering if there is anyone who makes custom ammo for this caliber maybe in a barnes x . If not how hard is it to get started reloading .I was shooting the 150 swift scirocco great grouping bullet but me and my friend have both had penetration problems on deer if you hit a shoulder at only 150 yards

REloading is fairly straight forward. YOu can get a decent starter kit for a few hundred dollars.

the 300 RUM is the very reason I got into reloading. After I bought 2 boxes of shells and it was $35/ box, I decided to get into reloading them. There are a number of guys on here that reload for this cartridge and can assist you in almost any question you have. Bigcountry, Stubblejumper and myself to name a few. Check the reloading forum for a few threads on getting started into reloading, there is some great info in there. The main difference in reloading for the 300 RUM compared to most regular rounds is the overall length. Rather than trying to get the bullet close to the rifling, your magazine dictates how far you seat your bullets. As long as you can fit it in your magazine that is your oal.

holy snikes!!! they want $50/ box !!! And the cheapest is $34 but you gotta buy 5 boxes! Wow, maybe I should start selling my reloads, LOL!!!

Yeah, you gotta want to kill something pretty bad to fork out that kind of bucks. Wouldn't take many boxes of those to buy another 270 and a life time supply of ammo.

Thanks bigbulls. I pay $40.00 a box now it would be cheaper for me to buy it from pc ammo for what looks to be a better bullet. how is the 300rum compaired to the 30-378

With 26" barrels the 30-378 adds about 100fps to the 300 ultramag.
