Default 25-06 Suggestions

I bought a really nice Savage Mdl 111 today in 25-06. I have no experience with this caliber so I am looking for advice about what to feed it. I will be hunting in open hardwoods with the potential for shots out to 200 yards. Whitetail deer will be the prey. Any help is greatly appreciated.

A friend is using the new 110gr accubond in his 25-06 and they do a great job on deer.

The 117 gr. Sierra is a great deer bullet. But I also would throw a vote for the 110 Accubond. We are using it on elk this year with a .25-06 Ackley Improved - so far . . .one shot, one elk.

When I hunted with factory ammunition I would switch between the 117 gr Sierra in the Federal premiums, or the 115 gr in the Winchester Silver tips. (both would keep the close to the same sighting) Sometimes the Winchesters would make the situation kinda messy if ya know what I mean. Now that I reload, I use strictly 110 Nosler Accubonds......if you reload pm me and Ill give you my recipe.

I have had very good performance from both the 100 grain and 115 grain Nosler Ballistic tip. I really feel the the 25-06 is at its best for deer with a good 100 grain bullet. I would use the 100 Ballistic tip for deer and the 120 Nosler Partition for bigger game.

I no longer reload so I will be using factory ammo. I stopped by the Walmart today and bought the last two boxes of 25-06 ammo in stock. It was Remington 100 gr. Cor-Lok. There is a gun show here in two weeks so I will probably get a good selection of ammo then. Thanks for the input.

I also use 100 Nosler BT. Always have had good results on deer. I reload the same bullets for a bud and he loves it also.

I think your 100 grain Remingtons will work very well. The corlokts have always worked well and shot well for me.

In my Browning A-Bolt .I used Winchester 100 gr."PXP" for factory loads. There are almost like a hollow point .They have little serrations on the point.Never had a exit wound. All deer hit the ground like a sack of dung and did not move again.Great caliber .One of the best in my opinion.

I love the Hornady 117 grain interlock. The deer don't seem to like them however.
