It would be advantageous to use varmint bullets for varmints, and big game bullets for big game. It is not humane to use varmint bullets on big game due to their lack of integrety. If you don't handload I suggest you look into it; I don't think Weatherby loads any varmint rounds.Iguess you could use Weatherby 115 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips for both. For hogs I would go with a Weatherby 115 gr. Barnes-X, or 120 gr. Nosler Partition.Good luck.

Try the Hornady 120 grain hollow point. It is a heavy jacket HP intended for deer size game but at high velocity would work well for varmits as well. I had one for a while but it didn't really outperfor my 25-06 my any meaningful amount and used a lot more powder so I sold it and now just use the 25-06. It is for sure a rifle for handloaders.

The Sierra 120 gr. HPBT is a very tough bullet. We use them out here for elk with good results.

Just realize that if you buy a vanguard with a 24" barrel you will produce about 100fps less velocitythan with a 26" barrel. In other words, not a great deal more velocity than the 25-06 with a 24" barrel. The 257wby needs a 26" barrel totake advantage ofit's case capacity.
