http://www.mossbergintl.com/pages/silverreserve.htmi got oneof these about 2 weeks ago and like it its pretty cheap so for a young hunter/shooter with out a real good paying or steady job its great. it patterns real well and is light enough you can carry it hunting and still be able to carry out a full limit of game. lol. According to mossberg they redesigned it so that if you shoulder a gun correctly when you shoulder this you are dead on taget which is the dead on truth i stood 30 yrds from a pattern plate with my eyes closed raised the gun and shot and hit just a lil left but still almost dead on. I have the Silver reserve field. I think the sport modle with the ported barrels is a wuss gun to me if you cant take the recoil get off the line.

SAve up a little more til you got close to $2000. O/U's are not cheap if you want a good one. There is a lot of machining that goes inot one and that costs money.

$2000 is about where the decent ones start. The sky is the limit on how far the price goes up from there.

If not you can get a Ruger red label for just over a grand. Great gun and about the least expensive one you can get and still get a very reliable shotgun.

BTW, porting is not for recoil reduction. It does very little to slow recoil. It is to keep muzzle rise to a minimum to allow for faster follow up shots.

I don't know much about them but stoeger makes a cheaper over and under. My girlfriend has a stoeger single shot 20 gauge. If you check them out on the web you can see what modles they have.
