Default Swarovski Rail Mounting

Could someone please explain to me how this works. It looks like it would be very strong, and it looks like you could mount it very closeto the receiver which would mean great accuracy. I was thinking about putting the 1.5-6x42 scope on a bear hunting rig and I would really like to give this a try. If anyone could give me any advice I would definitely appreciate it. Thanks.

I just don't understand if you need to have a special mount to use the rail? Or if it somehow just attaches to where your rifle is drilled and tapped? Maybe I'm dense, but I just don't get it.

Thanks. I appreciate it. I keep looking at the picture of the bottom of the scope on the Swarovski website, but its really not that clear and not something that I am familiar with.
