RE: a bushnell banner 6-18-50mm new is that good scope
I would not go with a 6-18 unless you are shooting 300+ shots.
If you hunt in conditions where the avg. shot is 100yds a little more, a little less. I would go with a 3-9 or something like that. Most deer hunters have no need for a 6-18 scope. Remebmer that a 3-9 wiill also gather more light.
RE: a bushnell banner 6-18-50mm new is that good scope
That would be a terrible choice for a big game scope.Far too much magnification for close range shooting. For varmint shootingit would be a decent scope.
RE: a bushnell banner 6-18-50mm new is that good scope
I have this scope in 3x9x40. It is alot of scope for70 bucks. Every time I have fired at game, I had it on 3 power. You could save some money by buying the 3x9 whcih is a HUNTING SCOPE. Anything that goes past 12 power on the top would be a VARMINT SCOPE.
I don't believ any hunter in the USA needs a 50mm objective.
btw I got this scope from Bushnell. I had bought an old banner used and it broke. Bushnell replaced it witht the current one which is much better. Free of charge. okcmco

I could not agree more. A low power varible is the best choice for big game. Much larger field of view for the close in shots (fast shooting)and still plenty of powerfor the longer shots (where you have the time to aim carefully). 4 power at 400 yards is like iron sights at 100 yards. Either should be good to hit a 9" x 12" vital area if you & your rifle can do its part.
