The choke you're talking about is a PolyChoke or similar. Poly Chokes were common several years back.. They have faded out with thescrew in chokes.I'm not sure they even make Poly Chokes anymore. I'm sure they do.

I had an old bolt action 12 gauge that had that system on it. I thought it was pretty neat myself. It was either a mossberg or savage, I forget which.

Adjustable choke

Mossberg mod. 200K ser.# n/a. Very unusual 12 ga. slide action shotgun that looks like a bolt action with a nylon/plastic slide handle. 28" plain barrel with an adjustable choke. Excellent bore and action. Excellent blue on the receiver but the barrel looks like it was cold blued to a worn gray/brown finish. Very good walnut stock with an original pad. Wood shows

It has a mossberg select choke , not a polychoke and was manufactured 1955 to 1959 . Rebel pretty well covered the rest of it .

Halcon, I didn't know if it was a PolyChoke or not. That's why I said orsimilar. I didn't know Mossberg had their own adjustable chokes.. It just came to me.I faintly remember back when I worked at the gun shop we had Mossbergs with that choke on them.I believe they were on the 500's.I don't think they had as much adjustment as the old Poly Chokes.I have a Rem 870 bbl with a Poly Choke Deluxe. I think it was call Deluxe. It was the better of the Polychokes.I had that one installed.. I never cared for it.. I wouldn't buy another one .

RR, I would'nt ruin any of my shotguns by installing a poly choke.
You're right partner!! It is not recommended to fire slugs in shotguns with poly chokes. if there is tighter constriction on the end of the barrel due to the choke, it could cause excessive pressure and cause damage to the firearm (i.e damage the end of the barrel or the choke). Better to shoot the slugs in a slug barrel or a barrel with a cylinder choke.

R.H. When I had that PolyChoke put on I thought I would like it.It was a big disappointment to say the least.I still have that barrel but it hasn't been on my 870 in years.I would imagine I had it installed in the mid 70's.Our Gunsmith wasa authorizedPoly Choke service center. Not sure if that's what I'm trying to say.He was listed as a dealerfor installing Poly Chokes.I didn't like that big thing hanging on the end of my barrel.Seems to me at that time it was 50-60 bucks for that gizmo.A waste of good money no doubt.
