I just bough a Ruger 10-22 (the target model with the bull barrel). I put a Leupold VXII 4-12x40 on there and it shoots like crazy! I can hit an empty cigarette pack every time all the way out to 75-80 yards (haven't tried shooting past there) so that spells death for every groundhog I take aim at, plus the recoil is so minimal that I can rapid fire the entire clip and still stay on target. This could mean death for multiple groundhogs at once lol.

I firmly believe that the .22LR is the ONE gun to have if you can only have ONE gun...

and a QUALITY .22 is a sight to behold, plus an absolute RIOT to shoot...

I have several, and my favorite is my K77/22 Target...

hey razor i've got 3 10/22's ones a mag, one is basicaly stock, the other, if my wife ask, ihave less than 500$ in

, bull barrel, houge stock, and some titanium internal parts, it is a real shooter, and gets shot more than anything else i have combined. cheap (shooting)and accurate

Hopefully your 597 will work better than the one I had. They are not known for reliability.
