Default Anyone know what this gun is.

I have a old 30-06 that i know nothing about. The only markings it has is on the side of the barrel and on the buttpad. Both places it is printed Golden Bear. This was my first deer hunting rifle and i would like to know more about it and whats it worth, but everyone i have asked knows nothing about this rifle. Do you guys know anything about this one.

Mabye theres an antique dealer around you that deals in old guns. You could try that? Or if theirs something similar as Janes book on aircraft but for guns.

I am almost positive that they were made by Howa. and or S&W. Do a search of those comapies. If you turn up nothing then check Mossberg. I once saw a Howa Golden Bear.( I Think) That was back in the 80's so my memory is a little fuzzy.

Does it have a FN style mauser action? If you can describe it a llittle better,it might help me find it for you. Off the top of my head,i think it was imported for charles daly years ago. look for other markings on the underside of the reciever ect. Need more info to help you some more. vangunsmith
