Default If you could bring back just one......

If you had it in your power to bring back one of the old (or not so old) calibers which is now out of favor with the buying public, which would you choose and which gun would you couple it with?

I think I'd choose the 348 Winchester and put it in a Savage 99 with a light maple stock..... top it off with a Weaver 4x. That would make for a nice "eastern" deer rifle out to about 200 yards.

I don't know what I would like to bring back but I can tell you what I would like to have commercialized.

.358 ultra mag.

I gotta consult the "Cartridges of the World" for a good answer to the question.

I would love to see a rerun of the 99 Savage in 300 and 250 Savage. Two great old calibers. Mild report, low recoil and deadly effective. Many a moose and elk dropped to the 300 Savage which was twice the gun that the 30-30 was but never gained the popularity. Partly because the Savage 99 was 50 years at least ahead of its time and pressure wise could handle calibers that had not even been thought up yet. A well mannered 308 you might say. With 165 grain and 180 grain, it would bring home all the members of the deer family with ease.

Ditto on the 348, I have 2 in the 71 but would like it in a smaller lever like a 92 or 94 ..

I would like to see a Winchester model 70 Featherweight w/24" barrel offered in 6.5-284 Norma. The ammo is available only if a factory rifle was.

I would like to see Remington Bring back the Sendero line of rifles. I own a Sendero, 7mm-STW it shoots fantastic groups.
I wish they would introduce the 358-Shooting Times Alaskan in the Sendero.

5mm rem mag
Darn right.....but I have the sneaking suspicion that Remington pulled the plug on it for safety reasons and didn't want anyone to know. I don't know this for a fact but why else would a company abandon a product and leave thousands of gun owners stranded unless there was serious "other" considerations. It's the only thing that makes sense here.

I'm another that would like to see Remington or CCI load the 5mm. IMHO it beats the heck out of the 17hmr. It pushed a bullet 2 1/2 times the weight of the 17 at around 2400.
There was never a saftey problem with the Rem 5mm mag why it was dropped was never explained. They produced 63,000 guns.
