Default Ammo choices for 300 SA RUM are limited

Just got a Remington 300 SA Ultra Mag for my B-day. Went to purchase some shells and the selection is very limited. Only could find them in 3 different loads, AND they were all by Remington. Largest grain bullet was 185.

I would like to put some Nosler or Federal through it, but can't find them anywhere.

Looked at Midway's site, nothing. Anyone have some great places and/or ideas??

If some manufacturer doesn't step up soon, I'm gonna have to reload.

HELP!!!!

Thanks

Sorry to break it too you, but you might want to start looking at presses now. The Rem SAUM family is not doing well at all and if Remington follows their history, they are on life support right now waiting for the plug to be pulled.

Yep, and guess what family of cartridges Remington is loading for now. The WSM's, even the 300.

You might want to rechamber it for the WSM.Tons of ammo available for that round.

If you saw 3 300 SAUM loads you saw 100% of the ammo produced for it! The SAUM is dead, I'm not trying to shame you or hurt your feelings tho really. Just hope you understand that once Rem pulls the plug on the SAUM (they are TRYING to hold onto them with guns like the Model 7s they are putting them in, but sooner or later they will realize that by chambering those same guns in WSMs instead of SAUMs they will sell MANY more firearms) it is over for the cartridge. Rem picked up the 270WSM and 300WSM in a couple of 700s for 05. Nextyear I suspect you will see them add yet more guns in those calibers. No one else will bother tooling up for the load as there aren't enough guns around to make it a profitable endeavor.

If I were you I would buy HUNDREDS of pieces of brass (maybe even over 1000 if you plan on doing alot of shooting) and reloading it for the rest of your life. The case itself can actually produce higher velocity than the WSMs, but Rem waited to long to get on the shortmag bandwagon with them!

I would get the reloading stuff as well. Its a good caliber and there will always be lots of bullets available. Once you start rloading you won't ever wany to buy another shell. Also look at the bright side, you have a Mugnum.

If your not going to reload and by the sounds of it haven't shot it yet, I'd take it back and go with the 300 wsm...for the all the reasons already stated!

Look at Noslers web site, I believe they are currently loading the SAUMs.

Since when does Nosler load ammo for anything? I know some companies use Nosler bullets, but I never heard of Nosler ammunition.

Frizzler the man is right!!!!In checkingNosler's site andbe darned if they don'tstate a whole whack of offeringsfor the 300 SAUM (IN STOCK) through the Nosler Custom Ammo line.
http://www.noslerammunition.com/300SAUM.html

Not sure where you buy this or the cost but would be worth looking into.

If you haven't shot this rifle or plan to reload for itI would still consider the possibility of taking it back in lieu of something that has a brighter future. While this maybe a viable option for now, if rem does what most expect and dumps the SAUM's then I can't see Nosler continuing to produce these offerings for an extended time...demand equals supply in the manufacturering business.

Good luck
