Default Gloss or matte scope?

Just out of curiosity, what finish scope is your favorite for a gloss "shiny" barreled rifle, gloss or matte?

I have a matte scope on a blue barrel and it looks fine.

One point I would like to add......I see many more glossy used scopes with scratches on them , then I do matte scopes. What do people think, does the gloss scratch easier, or is due to the fact that there are more old gloss scopes around?

Depends on the Rifle stock for me. For example, I have a glossy on my M700 BDL Custum Deluxe and a matte on my M70 Winchester.

I prefer the matte finished scopes, no matter what the rifle's finish is (blued, stainless, etc.).

Yes, I much prefer the matte finish rings and scopes on all my rifles. I just don’t like the glossy finish.

I to agree with the "match the rifles finish". BUT I have yet to see any of the custom finished scopes from Leupold. In their custom shop you can get many different finishes including a gloss WHITE! They also have a silvery paint finish that I wonder what it would look like on say an A-bolt White Gold Medallion?

I would likewise like to find a "blue chrome" finish to match a 300Wby Deluxe Mk V of mine!
