Ruger Mini 14 Scope Mount

I have a Ruger Mini 14 with a Side mounted scope. It is not the ranch rifle model. My question is that the mount was a pain to fit it where the scope mountsit was very tight. I zeroed the scope it at 100 yards with very good groups. But when I go back to say 20 yards it is way off by almost the whole target. I then corrected it at 20. But when I moved it back to 100 it shot 8-10 inches high. Has anybody ever had this problem?

it all depends on how high your crosshairs are above your barrel and what you want for your second zero. at twenty yards with a 100 yard zero you should be around an inch and a quarter low. if you zero it at 20 yards being a .223 it will be just as you are finding. it will be very high at 100 yards. 20 yards is just to close for the first zero.
