Default Sighting in a Redfield

i have one of the old range finding redfield wide angle scopes. i had it mounted on my rem 30-06. i tried sighting it in this past weekend but i couldn't figure how to adjust the elevation. the left to right adjustment works but he elevations throws it off. i was just reading in a book about the rangefinding recticles and i didn't know whether you were supposed to sight it in at 100 yards or what. so if ya'll have any help for this situation or possibly a manual for a scope like this it would be very helpful.

You have a old Red-feild accu-trac,how you are suposed to sight it in is at a 100 yds.The squars with the yardage is the approx. size of a deers chest at those ranges.
You are suposed to put the square on the deers chest(what ever it is)and that is suposed to be your hold over the deer.Crude and not very efective, the Sheaperds line of scopes expanded on this and made a way better scope.

There is a set of different dials for that scope.I forget exactly how it worked.Seems that each dial was fordifferent weight projectiles.I had one of these for a long time. When the original Redfield was stillin business I asked if it could be converted into a regular 2x7. They swaped it outwith a brand new 2x7Widefield.I hate to break your bubble. I think you'll find it's more trouble then it's worth.

yeah that's kinda how it seems. would it be possible to sight it in at like 200 yards and not even worry about using the bullet drop compensation part of it? my dad has a scope kinda like it and he has it sighted for 200 and doesn't use it.

I'm sure that would work for you.Once you get it sighted the way you want.you need to make a mental note what the dial is set on.Maybe there is someone with more knowledgethat can walk you through this. It's probably been 10 years since Redfield swapped it out. Even before then I really didn't have much experience with the Accu-Trac. I just didn't care for it.I wish you the best.

You can do what you are saying, just take the dial off and sight it in.Then put the dial back on at 100,so if it ever moves you can turn it back.
I did this with a old Trashco 4-16 rangefinder scope. It worked till i up graded.
I know the old redfeilds are good scopes,I have a few of them, but just a thought. You might wanna call Simmons and see if they honor any of the old redfeilds, maybe they can give you a diffrent rectical or diffrent scope.

ABO in Miami FL was handling Redfield repairs on the original Redfields. If they still are I don't know. They might be able to help you out.Fair warning I sent one back probably 5 years ago. Shipping and handling plus a little extra insurance was right at 30.00.They did a excellent job.Nothing was wrong with mine except it was old and I wanted it cleaned and resealed.
